Pay-off unit is used to pay-off full conductor cables and strand wires from reels or spools made of wooden or metal drums. The unit is equipped with a hydraulic actuator for lifting the spools. The spool is stopped by use of a pneumatic disc brake. Optionally the unit may be equipped with a drive or controlled histeresis brake.
